Point by Point is a homecoming
We’re here to help you fill your home with furniture you love, and make you feel more connected to your space.
Point by Point is a response to fast furniture
There are environmental and social costs to producing all this furniture, and we want to enable another way.
Point by Point embodies care
By finding ways to give furniture in need of repair a second life, we show care for what was. In the long term, we aim to inspire others to care in new and deeper ways about their local economy and community.
About Us
Ghermayn Baker and Christina Powers founded Point by Point Studio in Long Beach, CA in 2022.
Ghermayn made his way to Long Beach from the opposite coast—Fernandina Beach, FL—with a few stops in between. He studied Arabic Language & Literature at Dartmouth College, and later built a career in marketing in New York and Los Angeles. A lifelong craftsman and artist with a deep love for patterns, Ghermayn is self-taught in his caning and weaving practice. He is a natural teacher and coach, finding delight in breaking down the “how” of technical projects for others. Ghermayn also holds an MBA from UCLA’s Anderson School of Management.
Christina is a proud 562 “boomerang,” born and raised in neighboring Seal Beach before returning to settle in Long Beach. After earning a BA in American Studies from Northwestern University, Christina spent the next ten years in management consulting and international development. During this time her curiosity brought her to live and work across six continents. Through these experiences Christina refined the strong aesthetic vision that she brings to Point by Point today — rejecting minimalism and trends, embracing the acts of layering and collecting objects with history, and building a home where chosen family can gather.
Together, Ghermayn and Christina aim to live point by point: grounded in the present, taking each day and swing as it comes. They live in a historic Cal Heights cottage with their dog, Tofu.
